African Red

African Red is a premium bright leaf tobacco variety prised for its exceptional growing characteristics and excellent horticultural traits. These authentic tobacco seeds, originally sourced from Transvaal, South Africa, produce plants with distinctive light green leaves and striking white stems.

This vigorous tobacco plant reaches impressive heights of 8 feet (200cm) at first crowsfoot, featuring a strong columnar growth pattern. The mature 10th leaf spans 28 inches (60cm), making it an excellent choice for both commercial and personal tobacco cultivation. With an 80-day maturation period, African Red offers reliable and predictable harvests.

When flue-cured, the leaves develop a sought-after bright yellow to light reddish-brown color characteristic of premium bright leaf tobacco. The cured leaf character is notably mild, comparable to Virginia Gold varieties, while maintaining a high nicotine content that experienced growers appreciate.
